New York, NY – April 6, 2009 -- United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (USRN) an independent leader in original network radio programming, today announced it has renewed its arrangement to sell and distribute the various financial news programs created and produced by the BLOOMBERG RADIO® service. The new deal extends United Stations’ already successful partnership with the BLOOMBERG RADIO service into the next decade, and the announcement came from United Stations President/COO, Jim Higgins from the company’s New York headquarters.
Through this agreement with Bloomberg, United Stations handles all affiliate relations activity and advertising sales for all nationally distributed offering from the BLOOMBERG RADIO service. Powered by Bloomberg’s unparalleled global news and information resources and its radio network that broadcasts via WBBR 1130AM in New York and multiple satellite radio carriers worldwide, the BLOOMBERG RADIO service offers syndicated reports on various topics to more than 140 affiliates. These affiliates rely on BLOOMBERG RADIO reports on a daily basis for recaps on international market activity, stock market news and breaking updates on business trends. Bloomberg’s most popular and most widely broadcast financial news offerings for radio are the twice-hourly “Market Minutes,” but there is also significant exposure given by affiliates to “First Word” and “Surveillance,” which together make an early morning block of financial news, as well as to “Taking Stock” a block of investment news in afternoon drive time daily. There is also a significant, cutting-edge business segment focused on African-Americans.
At United Stations, Higgins noted that the renewal is an exciting one for the company. “The Bloomberg name is unparalleled in the delivery of financial data, and given today’s focus on the financial markets and their daily impact on every American, there’s no better partner right now for servicing our affiliates and advertisers than Bloomberg.”
